Paul van Zyl graduated as a dentist from the University of Stellenbosch in 1984. After spending five years as a private general dentist, he enrolled as a registrar in Prosthodontics, also at the University of Stellenbosch. In 1992 he qualified as a specialist Prosthodontist, obtaining the MChD (cum Laude). Paul has since been practicing in his private Prosthodontic practice in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.
Paul was involved in the post graduate training at the University of Stellenbosch, and later the University of the Western Cape and University of Pretoria. He is a regular lecturer for Continued Education Courses and Congresses on behalf of the ITI, SADA, local study clubs, Straumann and Nobel Biocare. He is a member of SADA and its affiliated APSA, CSDI and SASDI, as well as the International College of Prosthodontists (ICP).
He has been a Fellow of the International Team on Implantology (ITI) since 2001, where his service and accomplishments include:
ITI SA education delegate, Education Core Group Committee;
ITI Consensus Conferences: member active in groups: 2008,2010,2013;
ITI Online Academy: Curriculum and Content Creation consensus conference 2013;
SAAO: President WC Branch;
ITI Education Week UP: Prosthodontic programme coordinator and instructor.
