Our Speakers
Dr Sjoerd Smeekens
Dr Sjoerd Smeekens is the ideal speaker to lead such an interdisciplinary program. He is one of very few dentists to have achieved board certification as a Reconstructive Dentist by the Swiss Society of Reconstructive Dentistry (SSRD), which includes periodontology, implantology, TMD and Prosthodontics. He has a further registration as a Prosthodontist with the German Society of prosthodontics and is an executive member of the Nederlands Vlaamse Vereniging voor Restauratieve Tandheelkunde (NVVRT).
Dr Smeekens runs a unique interdisciplinary clinic in the Netherlands and teaches a comprehensive interdisciplinary program at The Institute for Reconstructive Dentistry. Dr Smeekens is a world leader in interdisciplinary treatment planning and reconstructive dentistry. Making him the leader in any interdisciplinary program.
Dr. Tim Joda
Dr. Joda works as Research Associate and Program Director of Postgraduate Education at the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry & Gerodontology at the University of Bern/ Switzerland. In addition, he is the Head of the Section for Digital Reconstructive Technology + Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Joda is triple-trained and Board Certified as Specialist in Prosthodontics, Implant Dentistry, and Periodontology; and has gained an MSc Degree in Prosthetic Dentistry & Biomaterials as well as a PhD Degree in Reconstructive Dentistry & Implant Therapy.
Dr. Joda was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine Boston/ USA in 2014. Moreover, he has been appointed as Associate Professor at the University of Siena/ Italy since 2016. His main clinical interests are fixed implant treatment protocols. Dr. Joda initiated numerous projects in the field of clinical and translational research related to digital dental technologies and optimization of implant workflows. He received several peer-reviewed research grants as principal investigator and has won research prizes from the Swiss Boards of Reconstructive Dentistry (SSRD) and Implantology (SGI).
