Dr Strydom will be presenting a multidisciplinary case that was the winning case for the Facebook SAAAD Ivodent/Ivoclar competition.

Diagnosis and treatment strategies. A multidisciplinary approach and sequence in treating the gummy smile. From smile design to orthognathic correction.

A clinical case of full mouth rehabilitation: Modern materials and techniques to solve some complex clinical headaches

This clinical case study will be supported by a multitude of procedures including bleaching, digital smile design, immediate implant placement with partial extraction therapy, as well as soft tissue development, customized impression techniques on implants and angle correcting abutments to facilitate screw retention on all placed implants.

The natural teeth were minimally prepared in enamel and all ceramics are bonded with the most current resin cements and techniques available.

Fixed implant supported maxillary reconstruction – Wanda, a perio case

This case takes us through the processes of record taking before reaching a diagnosis and a treatment plan: clinical and radiological examination, photography, designing oro-fascial aesthetics (ITI surgical and aesthetic risk assessment) and importantly, clear communication between the surgical, prosthodontic and laboratory team – and of course our patient! We decided on a delayed protocol: removal of all remaining maxillary teeth with placement of a full immediate upper denture – implant placement (six implants, of which the distal implants were tilted to avoid the antrum) after adequate healing – finalizing the case with a screw retained prosthesis on a PEKK framework.

Compromised treatment plan for a full mouth rehab using only direct resin composites.

Big aesthetic and functional rehabilitation can be very costly and with more and more patients presenting with tooth wear (The modern Dental disease) alternative treatment plans needs to be utilised to slow the process down. This case is a full mouth rehabilitation, using only direct resin composites.

Restoration of worn dentition

A 46 year old male presents with worn dentition and would like his smile restored. From opening up the occlusion with the help of diagnostic wax-up, treatment discussion and planning, to temporisation, cementation and management of the bite post operatively. We will look at every aspect of the treatment in this wear case.
